IPL 2020 Schedule in Indian Standard Time (IST)

So finally we know that the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is going to happen. BCCI on August 2, 2020, announced that the IPL 2020 will be played from September 19, 2020, to November 10, 2020, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The tournament was originally scheduled to be held in late March in India, however, due to coronavirus, it has been shifted to UAE. This will not be the first time when the tournament is being played outside the Indian territory as the 2009 edition and some matches of 2014 edition were played outside India.

The tournament will be known as Dream 11 IPL as the earlier title sponsor Vivo has been replaced by a fantasy sports company (Dream 11).

A total of eight teams will contest to win the prestigious IPL trophy. The tournament will be two-phased, in the first phase, 56 matches will be played in a round-robin format in which each team will twice face all other teams in the tournament, while in the second phase 4 matches will be played amongst the top four teams based on the 2020 IPL Points Table. IPL 2020 will be a 53 days tournament and the matches will be played across three venues in Dubai (Dubai International Cricket Stadium), Sharjah (Sharjah Cricket Stadium) and Abu Dhabi (Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium).

IPL is one of the global sporting events which draws eyeballs from every corner of the globe. The tournament is organized every year by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the tournament comprises of cricket matches between teams in 20 over format.

The 2020 edition of IPL will kick start with the first match between the most successful team i.e. Mumbai Indians (MI) and second most successful teams i.e. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Septemeber 19, 2020 at 7:30 PM IST. So, far MI has bagged four titles, CSK three, KKR two and Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Deccan Chargers have won one title each.

IPL is a highly awaited event in India, the tournament is so popular in India that many companies just wait for the tournament to launch their new products. As IPL 2020 is scheduled in UAE, the matches will be played as per UAE Standard Time which is four hours ahead of GMT while the Indian Standard Time is 5:30 hours ahead of GMT. Accordingly, there will be a one and half hour time difference between match kick-off time and Indian Time. The tournament will kick off in a thrilling encounter with its first match will be played on September 19, 2020, at 7:30 PM Indian Standard Time between Mumbai Indians (MI) Vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in UAE while the final match of the IPL 2020 will be played on November 10, 2020, at 7:30 PM IST.
